us news college rankings 2011
When it comes to value, there were some schools that ranked higher than they typically would. For instance, Standford ended up in the fifth spot even though their tuition is pretty high ($39,201) but the good part is the fact that they offer their students pretty good financial aid packages that could possibly cover up to 69 percent of the cost.
The same can be said with Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) where their college tuition is about $29,212 but with grants it covers an average of 68 percent of the total cost.
Here is the top 10 (11 because there were some ties) schools based on the U.S. News and World Report College Rankings for 2011:
1. Harvard
2. Princeton
3. Yale
4. Columbia
5. Stanford/University of Pennsylvania (tie)
7. Cal Tech/MIT (tie)
9. Dartmouth/Duke/University of Chicago (tie)
Again, I’m sure a lot of people aren’t surprised with the top three schools as they have been in the top rankings for years but it looks as though the technology schools are rising.
