Daniel Baldwin Files For Divorce From Joanne Smith

Daniel Baldwin and his wife of nearly four years, former model Joanne Smith, have split. Baldwin filed for divorce Wednesday, just one day after it was revealed he obtained a temporary restraining order against Smith and temporary custody of their young daughters. In new documents obtained by TMZ, Baldwin claims Smith started to become violent towards him. She allegedly threatened to kill him and hit him numerous times with her hands and other objects.
In a statement to TMZ, the actor said his decision to file for divorce was made to protect himself and his children, Avis Ann, 3, and Finley Rae, 2. "Due to recent events in our home and for the safety of my children and myself, I have made this decision. I have had my share of problems with drugs and alcohol many years ago and know first hand how difficult a position she is in,” he said.

Baldwin’s previous battle with drug and alcohol addiction was chronicled on four episodes of Celebrity Rehab in 2007. He and Smith wed in July 2007.
